Here I will be detailing my inspirations.
Louis Wain
Louis Wain is my one of my favorites for a lot of reasons. I love how his style changes often. I really enjoy how he was really flexible with what he drew, even if it was mainly cats. He was really focused on making people smile with his drawings, and using it to soothe himself as well. He poured his heart and soul into each and every image, even if it took him a short amount of time due to his talent of using both hands to draw an image quickly. The feeling of each image is intense, the cats playing, their expressions, the worlds he puts them in are always beautiful and full of life. He helped popularize cats immensely and change the publics view on them. I think about him almost on a daily basis and he is incredibly important to me.
Antonio Prohías
Antonio Prohías has adorable art. I love the black spy a whole lot. His lines are beautiful, and I love his comics cleverness and use of objects. He used his awful experience with Fidel Castro and turned it into a comic, being able to rebuild his life in USA after Castro had accused him of being a spy for the CIA. This story on it owns mean a lot to me. I am very glad he was able to turn his life around despite fascism.
劇団イヌカレー (Gekidan Inu Curry)
Gekidan Inu Curry is the person who did designs for the witches in Madoka Magica, including the enviroments. Their art is beautiful for so many reasons. I aboslutely love how they turn these people into viewable souls through the objects and things that were near to them, giving us a feeling of who they were when they weren't a witch. Everything down to the simple transition animations, the little pictures that are used, the paper, the fabrics, all of it is amazing to me. I don't think the show would be anywhere near as amazing if it weren't for the work of Gekidan Inu Curry. They put the soul into the show that is needed.
ねこぢる (Nekojiru)
Nekojiru was a manga artist. She is not for everyones taste, but her stuff resonates with me heavily. She was fascinated with the world but also seemed to hate it and have a very violent and sad view towards everything. This is a feeling that is incredibly relatable to many people. She says a lot of stuff and has a lot of humor that is not commonly said out there. I don't have much to really say on her, understanding her can only really be done through reading her manga, or watching the Cat Soup movie. Check out
read-nekojiru here on neocities. He is doing a lot of work translating her manga into English. The Cat Soup movie is definately my favorite and I watch it when I am going through a difficult time. It is a reminder that things come and go, constantly bad and good things are happening out in this world at all times. It is the fact, and a middle ground. It's highly important to me and I recommend
watching it.
